Photography for skeyes
Over the past four years (2019-2023), I've been granted the extraordinary opportunity of collaborating as a photographer on project-specific assignments with skeyes (Belgocontrol), capturing their world in vivid imagery. For those in the know, skeyes is the autonomous public entity ensuring the skies remain safe over Belgium. And let me tell you: it's a photographer's paradise!
From their beautiful, colourful premises illuminated by generous daylight, to the heartbeat of their operations — the radars, radio antennas, weather instruments, control rooms, and both ground and aerial traffic – every assignment was a challenge as we had to deal with tight timeframes, security considerations, sun positioning... and adherence to a precise graphic charter.

My task: to turn the intricacies of this tech-savvy world into captivating photos; illuminating their story across various platforms, be it internal communications, annual reports, social media or crossmedia publications. This thrilling journey has seen me atop antenna towers, inside control towers, and a mere 30 metres away as colossal planes kissed the runway. All while capturing the essence of the highly skilled technicians across the six airports skeyes oversees in Belgium.

With over 2,000 photos taken, I've condensed the essence of my experience with skeyes into this 2-minute animated portfolio.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the skeyes team for enabling my vision to take flight, blending two of my profound passions: aviation and photography.
